Every post on this site starts the same way: someone sends a photo, a cut list or a short description of a job that has gone sideways. From there it gets checked against the sheet in question, worked through on paper, and written up so the next person with the same problem has something to read before they buy.
Step one
A clear photo of the edge, the grade stamp or the delaminating face does more than a paragraph of description. Cut lists are welcome as a sketch or a photo of the paper plan.
Step two
Board selection, glue line, thickness and moisture content are checked against the job. If the answer depends on whether you are in Gauteng or on the KZN coast, that gets said plainly.

Photos and cut lists sent by email are usually read within two working days. Not every submission becomes a post. Duplicates get folded into an existing note, and questions that depend on a supplier's current stock are better asked directly at the yard.

Marine, structural and shuttering are trade labels for how a sheet is built and bonded, not a promise about your specific job. A marine-grade sheet left in standing water on a van floor still fails. We describe what the glue line and veneer stack can handle, not what your site will do to it.
An 18 mm board can measure 17.2 mm on a caliper once it has dried out in a Highveld workshop. If a carcass or a rebate depends on a tight fit, measure the stack you actually bought before you set the saw or the router.
The nesting layouts we publish assume a 2440 x 1220 sheet, a stated kerf and one grain direction. Change the blade, the edge-banding allowance or the grain run and the numbers shift. Treat them as a worked example, then redraw for your own bench.
Yards in Gauteng, KZN and the Western Cape appear by trade name because a reader asked or a board came up in a discussion. No placement fees, no sponsored rankings. If a supplier stops stocking a grade, the note gets updated rather than quietly left standing.
